There are more than 20 kinds of needle.
Ou embroidery, also known as "Wen embroidery", is a traditional art of Wenzhou with rich folk flavor and local color. It is one of the "six famous embroidery" in China.
I am honored to have the interview with professor Shi Chengquan, who has been embroidering for more than 40 years. She inherits the family's Shi's embroidery, and is a representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage project. Four generations of her family have made the embroidery. From her grandmother's generation, her father, mother, herself and her son four generations are doing the embroidery. Ou embroidery has a long history, their works are often collected by the industry, China Silk Museum and so on.
Ms. Shi said, "Influenced by her father and mother, who are both employees of the Ou embroidery factory, she have been fond of Ou embroidery since she was a child. It was as if she had been born to work for Ou embroidery. When she was 13 years old, she learned Ou embroidery from her mother at home and entered the Ou embroidery factory to learn embroidery from the masters. She is willing to pay more than others, willing to endure more hardship than others to learn Ou embroidery. The hardest part was winter, when there was no air conditioning and her hands were dry and cracked. At that time, she felt a little bitter, but when her works came out, she didn't feel bitter anymore. This is how she went all the way down, with the original intention of Ou embroidery."
Ms. Shi introduced that Ou embroidery is created on a flat cloth. The finished product is neat and bright when seen from close, but has a strong three-dimensional sense when seen from far away. Ou embroidery is famous for its hand-made embroidery, which cannot be replaced by machines. Its biggest features are: refined composition, clear embroidery, neat stitching, varied stitching, vivid embroidery face, bright color and pleasing to the eye. After several generations of artists' exploration, Ou embroidery now shows infinite charm. In the past, the themes of Ou embroidery are relatively few. After years of innovation, the theme of Ou embroidery is integrated with oil painting, Chinese painting, photography and sketch. While enriching the themes of Ou embroidery, it can also adapt to the market, enhance the understanding and understanding between different cultures, so that all people can feel the charm of Ou embroidery.
The heritage of Ou embroidery has always been passed down orally, without written records. With the retirement of the old artists, the skills are on the verge of being lost. Ms. Shi also hopes more new blood will pour into the industry. Under the general trend of today's development, the environment for the existence of intangible cultural heritage is somewhat precipitous. Urban attitudes towards artisans need to change. If no one is willing to inherit the traditional handicraft, the road of Ou embroidery will come to an end. In order to change the current predicament of urban intangible cultural heritage, in addition to material supply, it needs "people". Only by injecting fresh blood can it be more vivid.
In addition to selling in China, it can also focus on overseas markets. According to Ms. Shi's description, her works are often well received when they are exhibited abroad. Can China's intangible cultural heritage also learn from this idea and obtain better economic benefits instead of just being put in museums? It's worth thinking about.
After the interview, I tried to draw several sketches. According to professor Shi's guidance, the paintings need to have prominent themes, bright colors and concise compositions, so that the next step of the embroidery process can be carried out.
From Professor. Shi Chengquan, I can feel the pursuit of perfect art. I will strengthen cultural cultivation through learning, and use enough artistic aesthetic vision and a refined ingenuity to properly consider each stroke and painting, and design perfect architectural works with pen and ink between those inches.
